Business stories are rarely just about business.

I've been creating on the internet since 2010, and somewhere along the way I became much more interested in the stories underneath how people build things than I was in giving anyone another list of five steps to optimize their morning routine.

My podcasts and videos are where I get to investigate those stories. Sometimes that means putting business next to something that seemingly has nothing to do with business (zombies and soccer coaches have both been involved). Sometimes it means setting very specific constraints around who gets invited into the conversation and seeing what becomes visible as a result. And sometimes it means following a question long enough to discover that the thing I thought I was making isn't actually the thing I'm supposed to build next.

If you'd rather hear me think through an idea than read about it... you're in the right place.

This is where the ideas get room to stretch out.

My YouTube channel is home to podcast episodes, longer conversations, behind-the-scenes experiments, and videos where I get to pull apart the ideas I'm currently thinking about... particularly media strategy, pre-production, visibility, creativity, the creator economy, and what humans should be doing differently now that producing more content is no longer particularly difficult.

If the podcast archive shows you how my thinking has evolved, this is where you'll find more of what I'm investigating right now.

Media should do something.

If there's a throughline connecting everything on this page, it's probably that I don't think hitting record is the beginning of the creative process.

I'm interested in what happens before that: the question we're trying to answer, the constraint that makes an idea more interesting, the reason these particular people belong in the conversation, the story we're actually trying to tell, and what we want the resulting media to do once it exists.

Season 1 of The School of Moxie accidentally helped me discover that I wanted to build a physical studio around that belief. Everything I've made since has made the idea clearer.

Today, it's at the center of how I approach media at Sasquatch Media Grounds: don't just make more content. Create original human source material worth amplifying, and then make that media work ridiculously hard.
